Weaving the future of British textiles — join our team at Bower Roebuck & Co. Ltd
Since 1899, Bower Roebuck & Co. Ltd has been creating the world’s finest worsted fabrics from our home in the Holme Valley, West Yorkshire. Combining over a century of craftsmanship with modern innovation, we’re proud to supply many of the most prestigious luxury brands around the globe.
We’re now looking for a Warper to join our skilled team, someone with a hands-on approach, a keen eye for quality, and a passion for textile excellence.
The Role
As a Warper, you’ll play a vital part in the early stages of our weaving process — preparing vertical yarns on section, single-end, and bobbin warping machines to create precision warps for our looms.
Your work ensures the seamless flow of production and upholds the impeccable quality standards that define the Bower Roebuck name.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing single-end and section warps using specialised machinery
- Operating warping and winding machines with care and precision
- Working collaboratively with your team and other departments to meet production goals
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment
- Supporting continuous improvement and contributing to the smooth running of the department
What You’ll Bring
- A passion for creating beautiful, sustainable fabrics
- Previous experience as a Warper or in a drawing-in role is preferred (training available for the right person)
- Good mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills
- Understanding of woven design and production processes
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices
- A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and support your team
(Textile qualifications are desirable but not essential, enthusiasm and a willingness to develop your craft are what matter most.)
Why Join Bower Roebuck?
We believe that our people are as important as our product. At Bower Roebuck, you’ll join a team where heritage, innovation, and craftsmanship come together to create something truly exceptional.
We offer a supportive environment, long-term stability, and a range of benefits including:
- Contributory pension scheme
- Company sick pay and life insurance (3x basic pay)
- 30 days holiday (including bank holidays) with Christmas shutdown
- Eye test vouchers
- Social and charitable events throughout the year
- Elected Colleague Forum and quarterly Town Halls
- Discretionary Mill bonus (based on business performance)
Hours & Pay
- 39 hours per week, rotating shifts:
- Early: 6am – 2pm (6am – 1pm Fridays)
- Late: 2pm – 10pm (1pm – 8pm Fridays)
- £27,966 – £29,406 (depending on experience, including shift allowance)
Future Prospects
With experience and dedication, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your skills and progress into roles such as inspection or tuning, continuing to grow within our expert weaving team.
