At the Textile Centre of Excellence (TCoE), our Level 4 Process Leader Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who lead production activities, manage teams and take responsibility for performance within textile and manufacturing environments.
The programme combines workplace learning with focused training, helping apprentices develop the leadership, technical and operational skills needed to manage resources, improve processes and deliver against key production targets.
What Will Your Apprentice Learn?
The Process Leader Apprenticeship develops the skills required to lead people and production effectively within a modern manufacturing environment. Apprentices gain practical experience in:
- Production Management: Directing day-to-day production activities and monitoring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Leadership and Team Development: Motivating teams, managing performance and adapting leadership styles to different situations
- Resource and Budget Management: Planning people, equipment, materials and budgets to meet operational requirements
- Continuous Improvement: Using lean manufacturing techniques to improve quality, efficiency, productivity and sustainability
- Quality Management: Identifying problems, establishing root causes and implementing effective resolutions
- Health, Safety and Environment: Managing compliance, workplace risks and environmental responsibilities
- Project Management: Planning and coordinating projects, monitoring progress and managing potential risks

Entry requirements are determined by the employer and may vary depending on the individual’s role and responsibilities.
As this is a Level 4 programme, applicants should normally already have experience within a production or manufacturing environment and hold responsibility for leading people, processes or operational performance.
English and maths requirements will be completed in line with the relevant apprenticeship funding rules.
The apprenticeship concludes with an independent End-Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:
- Workplace Observation and Questions: Demonstrating leadership and operational skills within the working environment
- Project Report, Presentation and Questioning: Completing a workplace-based improvement project and presenting the outcomes
- Professional Discussion: Exploring the apprentice’s knowledge, experience and portfolio of workplace evidence
Successful completion leads to the Level 4 Process Leader Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised standard within engineering and manufacturing.
The standard is also designed to support recognition by relevant professional engineering institutions at the appropriate level of professional registration.
