At the Textile Centre of Excellence (TCoE), our Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship is designed to build essential technical skills, industry knowledge and professional behaviours for roles within textile manufacturing.
The programme blends practical, on-the-job learning with focused training, enabling apprentices to support a broad range of production processes, from fibre preparation and fabric formation to finishing and quality assurance across manufacturing environments.
The Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship develops learners’ ability to work effectively within modern and traditional textile production environments. Apprentices gain practical, hands-on experience in:
Textile Production Processes: Supporting operations such as weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing, yarn manufacturing
Machinery Operation: Using and maintaining specialist textile manufacturing equipment
Material Handling: Preparing fibres, yarns and fabrics for production
Quality Control: Inspecting products to meet industry and customer standards
Health & Safety Compliance: Working safely within regulated manufacturing settings
Continuous Improvement: Contributing to efficiency, waste reduction and production targets

The apprenticeship concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA), including:
Knowledge Test – assessing understanding of machinery, materials, and industry practices
Observation with Questioning – evaluating practical skills and application in real workplace projects
Structured Interview – reviewing a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competence, understanding, and achievements
Successful completion leads to a Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative qualification, recognised across the textile industry.
