This year marks a significant milestone for the Textile Centre of Excellence as we celebrate 50 years of supporting skills, training, and innovation across the textile and manufacturing sectors.

Since our establishment, the Centre has played a vital role in developing the workforce that underpins one of the UK’s most historic and important industries. Over five decades, we have worked closely with employers, learners, educators, and partners to ensure the sector continues to adapt, evolve, and thrive.

From apprenticeships and technical training to leadership development, sustainability initiatives, and industry engagement, our focus has always remained the same: delivering high-quality, industry-led training that meets real business needs. As an industry-owned, not-for-profit organisation, every achievement over the last 50 years has been driven by collaboration and reinvestment into the sector we serve.

We are proud to have supported thousands of learners throughout their careers – from those taking their first steps into the industry, to experienced professionals progressing into specialist and leadership roles. Many of today’s managers, technicians, and business leaders began their journey with the Textile Centre of Excellence, highlighting the lasting impact of skills development.

Looking Ahead to an Exciting Year

As we mark our Golden Jubilee, the year ahead promises to be an exciting one. Alongside our ongoing training and apprenticeship delivery, we will be launching a number of new projects focused on skills progression, industry engagement, sustainability, and supporting the future workforce.

A key highlight of the year will be our Golden Jubilee & Awards Ceremony, where we will come together to celebrate not only 50 years of the Textile Centre of Excellence, but also the achievements of learners, employers, and partners who continue to shape the success of the industry. This event will provide an opportunity to recognise excellence, reflect on progress, and look confidently towards the future.
