Reports to: Warehouse & Dispatch Manager

Hours: Mon-Thursday 7:15 – 15:45 &

            Friday 7:15 to 14:45 (half hour unpaid break daily)

Wage: £12.85 per hour

Purpose

The Accessories Department plays a crucial role in the processing and packing of luxury items, including throws, scarves, cushions, and more. The purpose of this role is to ensure the highest standards maintained in the creation of cushions and the sewing of labels for these products, delivering a luxury finish that meets the company’s exceptional quality within expected timescales, while actively supporting the team in other areas of the department as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

Overlocking Machine Operation:

  • Operate overlocking machines to sew and finish seams on various fabrics.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve production targets and deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in training new team members on overlocking techniques and machine operation.

General Sewing Tasks:

  • Read and follow production work orders and related instructions.
  • Conduct basic equipment maintenance, such as replacing needles and cleaning machines.
  • Select appropriate supplies, threads, and labels per customer specifications.
  • Examine finished products to ensure they meet high-quality standards.
  • Cut, sew, and assemble fabric components for cushions, and other soft furnishings as required.

Embroidery Machine operation

  • Set up and Operate a ZSK Sprint Classic embroidery machine
  • Follow specifications accurately and ensure correct placement
  • Change needles/ threads and general maintenance

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Proficient in industrial sewing techniques and machinery operation, including overlock and flatbed machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specifications precisely.
  • Familiarity with different fabric types and their handling requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and concentration skills.
  • Previous sewing knowledge is preferred, but we will provide training for enthusiastic candidates with experience in sewing, fabric, or design.
  • Ability to operate a ZSK Sprint Classic embroidery machine or willingness to train
