We are now seeking an experienced Carding Shift Supervisor to join our dedicated team in ensuring the highest standards of quality in our production processes.
Role Overview:
As a Carding Shift Supervisor, you will oversee and manage the carding department during your designated shift. You will be responsible for setting up and operating carding machinery to produce premium yarns, while ensuring maximum production efficiency. In addition, you will lead and organise the production staff, ensuring the smooth and effective running of the department. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced supervisor to contribute to the production of luxury yarns that are highly regarded in the industry.
Shift Pattern: 37.5hrs/wk alternating weekly shift pattern. 6.00am – 2.00pm, 2.00pm – 10.00pm
Pay: Starting rate £13.50
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate carding machinery to produce high-quality yarns, including cashmere, lambswool, camelhair, and angora, to exacting standards.
- Maximise production efficiency, troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues to minimise downtime and optimise output.
- Supervise, lead, and organize a team of production staff, ensuring that everyone works efficiently and to their full potential.
- Ensure all operational and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of production, including quality control data and machine maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Provide training and support to staff to help them develop their skills and improve overall team performance.
- Foster a culture of pride in the work and a commitment to producing exceptional yarns.
- Maintain high standards of quality control, ensuring the yarns produced meet the brand’s reputation for excellence.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the carding or textile manufacturing industry, particularly with natural fibres.
- Strong knowledge of carding machinery and processes, and experience in setting up machines to produce high-quality yarns.
- Mechanically minded with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues quickly.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills to ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to production standards.
- Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, lead, and develop a team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player who can collaborate across departments.
- A flexible, can-do attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- A strong sense of pride in their work and a deep commitment to maintaining high-quality production.
- Availability for shift/evening work as required.
- Weekend work may be necessary occasionally, depending on production needs.

- The role is based in a rural area, and public transport links are minimal, so having your own transportation is essential.
