JOB VACANCY: Cloth Production Manager At Moon

Working hours: Mon-Fri 8am – 4pm

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Overview

  • To take full responsibility for the quality, efficiency and production of all Warping, Weaving and Drawing in functions ensuring high standards.
  • To set all departmental operational targets in line with company demand and the Planning Manager.
  • Optimising the production process to meet both the quantity and quality demands without compromising the craftsmanship.
  • Leading the production team effectively to foster a collaborative environment that aligns with the company’s goals.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient and high quality production of woollen fabrics while upholding the company’s heritage and safety standards for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide monthly overview report highlighting production, absence, quality and health and safety
  • Clearly identify key metrics for the departments and also other inward processes to aid quality, throughput and health and safety
  • Communicate regularly with the team through notice boards, reports and meetings
  • Ensure all staff are clear on weekly operational targets and values, throughout the department, and are able to relay them back to other staff as required
  • Ensure all information is up to date and still valid
  • Set out and ensure teams follow strict levels of housekeeping and health and safety within the area
  • Identify training opportunities and use a strategic pathway for training highly skilled roles within the department
  • Maintain knowledge within the department through diversification and succession planning
  • Critically analyse quality issues and work with the Head of Quality to ensure best practice and improve overall quality
  • Establish a root-cause mentality and drive that through the departments
  • Work with the Planning Manager and key production personnel to identify opportunities to optimise production efficiencies on a consistent basis
  • Utilise BMS Vision and other technological tools to demonstrate production capacity and give clear overview of where downtime exists and why, to minimise where possible
  • Manage all absence and lateness in line with company polices ensuring this does not affect production output
  • Establish SMART targets for main processes to allow monitoring of quality, health and safety and production, consistently
  • Review capacity management plans and highlight opportunities for improvement and investment
  • Effective delegation of tasks to the members of the team
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules in consultation with maintenance team to minimise all downtime
  • Discussing concerns with the wider business and communicating these to SLT/SMT as appropriate
  • Collaborating on budgetary control for the department with the Operations Director
  • Promote and champion a culture of continuous improvement and involve the team as necessary
  • Complete and ensure all relevant risk assessments are up to date and valid
  • Escalate and manage risks and issues both in the department and across the business
  • Ensure SOP’s are provided and followed, for all processes

Qualifications and Training
• H&S qualification, minimum IOSH but ideally NEBOSH
• ILM qualification or equivalent
