JOB VACANCY: Mender – Luxury Woven Fabrics

Bower Roebuck & Co Ltd

Location: Glendale Mills, New Mill, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD9 7EN

About Us

At Bower Roebuck & Co. Ltd, we’ve been weaving excellence since 1899 in the heart of the Holme Valley. Combining heritage craftsmanship with innovation, we create beautiful, sustainable fabrics for the world’s leading luxury brands. Every thread tells a story of creativity, purpose, and passion — and now, we’re looking for someone special to join our team.

The Role

Our Menders are often described as “magicians” using skill, patience, and precision to repair tiny imperfections in luxurious woven fabrics. After a period of hands-on, supportive training, you’ll take ownership of your own mending perch, carefully inspecting and mending fabric pieces of various colours, textures, and lengths before they move on to finishing.

This is a rare opportunity to play a vital role in preserving the exceptional quality of fabrics destined for some of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses.

What We Offer

  • £24,863 per annum, rising after training
  • 39 hours per week (Monday–Friday, flexible start times)
  • Supportive, skilled team and full training provided.
  • 30 days’ holiday including bank holidays and Christmas shutdown.
  • Company Sick Pay.
  • Life Insurance (3x basic pay).
  • Contributory Pension Scheme.
  • Eye test vouchers.
  • Free parking and good public transport links.
  • Social and charity events, Christmas Party, and colleague forums.
  • Discretionary Mill Bonus when business targets are met.

What We’re Looking For

  • You’ll thrive in this role if you:
  • Have an eye for the smallest detail and take pride in perfection.
  • Enjoy working with your hands and creating beautiful results.
  • Can focus carefully and patiently on intricate work.
  • Are a team player, supporting colleagues to meet shared goals.
  • Have good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship behind luxury textiles.
  • A textile-related qualification would be an advantage, but it’s not essential, aptitude, commitment, and passion are what matter most.

Join Us

If you take pride in detail, love working with fine materials, and want to be part of a heritage company that continues to innovate, we’d love to hear from you.
