Apprenticeship Opportunity – Textile Operations Apprentice – two positions available.

Location: New Mill, near Holmfirth

Bower Roebuck is offering an exciting opportunity for two motivated individuals to begin their careers in the heart of British textile excellence.

As a prestigious manufacturer of some of the world’s finest luxury fabrics, Bower Roebuck, based in the picturesque countryside of West Yorkshire, is seeking Textile Operations Apprentices to join their team and gain hands-on experience in every stage of textile production.

What Apprentices Can Expect:

Successful applicants will gain comprehensive exposure to Bower Roebuck’s renowned textile-making process. From initial design concepts to the finished product leaving the mill, apprentices will rotate across departments to develop a deep and practical understanding of the industry.

This apprenticeship offers a chance to explore future specialisms such as warping, weaving, or pattern creation — all while learning from some of the most experienced professionals in British textile manufacturing.

* Starting wage: £8.00/hour (increasing with progression)

Training & Support:

Personal Mentor: Regular development check-ins and progress reviews
Onsite Technical Coach: Guidance on mastering essential manufacturing techniques

Formal Qualification:
Apprentices will work towards a Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative qualification, delivered in partnership with the Textile Centre of Excellence (TCoE) in Huddersfield, combining practical training with occasional classroom-based learning.

Working Hours:

Training Phase: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
Post-Qualification Shift Pattern:

Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

This rotating pattern is designed to support work-life balance, whether individuals prefer early starts or later shifts.

* Enjoy hands-on work with machines, yarn, and textiles
* Have a sharp eye for colour and fine detail
* Are curious and enthusiastic about learning all aspects of production
* Take pride in quality craftsmanship

* Maintain a positive and flexible approach under pressure
* Communicate respectfully and take ownership of personal development
* Hold or are working towards GCSEs in Maths and English (desirable)
