JOB VACANCY: Weaver – Luxury Woven Fabrics

Bower Roebuck & Co Ltd

Location: Glendale Mills, New Mill, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD9 7EN

About Us

At Bower Roebuck & Co. Ltd, we’ve been weaving excellence since 1899 in the heart of the Holme Valley. Combining rich textile heritage with modern innovation, we create beautiful, sustainable fabrics for some of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands.

Our people are at the heart of our success — skilled craftspeople whose expertise ensures every fabric that leaves our mill reflects the quality, creativity, and passion that define the Bower Roebuck name.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: £27,966 – £30,177 per annum (including shift allowance).
  • 39 hours per week (weekly rotating shifts)
  • 30 days’ holiday per year (including bank holidays) with Christmas shutdown.
  • Company Sick Pay and Life Insurance (3x basic pay).
  • Contributory Pension Scheme.
  • Eye test vouchers.
  • Free on-site parking and good public transport links.
  • Regular social and charitable events, including an annual Christmas party.
  • Elected Colleague Forum representatives and quarterly Town Halls.
  • Discretionary Mill Bonus when company targets are met.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Weaver to join our talented production team. Working with Dornier looms, you’ll oversee the production of luxury woven fabrics, ensuring they meet the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.

You’ll monitor up to 10 looms, stopping machines and making checks whenever faults or quality issues arise, repairing warp and weft breaks, refilling weft creels, and moving finished pieces for inspection. You’ll work closely with other Weavers and Loom Tuners in a small, collaborative team that takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards.

This is an opportunity to join a company that values skill, precision, and artistry — where traditional textile craftsmanship meets innovation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Weaver in a textile manufacturing environment.
  • A genuine passion for creating beautiful, sustainable fabrics.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining weaving machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Understanding of woven design and attention to technical detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, adaptable mindset.
  • Commitment to safe systems of work and continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge.
  • A textile qualification would be an advantage, but it’s not essential, your experience, attitude, and craftsmanship are what matter most.

Future Opportunities

This role provides the opportunity to grow your expertise further, with potential progression into inspection or tuning roles for those who want to develop their skills within our weaving department.

Join Us

If you take pride in precision, enjoy working with fine materials, and want to contribute to a British textile story over 125 years in the making — we’d love to hear from you.
