We’re pleased to welcome Abdus-Samad Bin-Sarfraz to the Textile Centre of Excellence as our new Applied AI and Data Analytics intern.

Abdus-Samad is currently pursuing an MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics at the University of Bradford, a programme he joined as a prestigious Office for Students (OFS) scholarship recipient. His global journey spans building smart devices in a makerspace in Jordan, studying AI and robotics in Egypt, and analysing e-commerce trends in China.

Back in the UK, Abdus-Samad has applied his skills in a range of practical roles, he has interned twice at J.P. Morgan in London, exploring how emerging technology could reshape banking while asking the critical questions: “Can we build it?” and “Should we, and for whom?”

Abdus-Samad commented:

“I am really looking forward to supporting the Textile Centre of Excellence here in Huddersfield, where my grandfather once spun yarn at John L Brierley. Two generations later, I am eager to help TCoE by implementing artificial intelligence to automate processes, improve customer relationship management, and use data from factory visits and online learning platforms to uncover new opportunities for tutors, manufacturers, and the wider textile community.

Abdus-Samad’s arrival brings new energy and expertise to TCoE, helping us turn data into meaningful action and create even greater impact for our members, apprentices, and the industry as a whole.
