We’re delighted to name Amaan Ul-Haq from Burberry as our Learner of the Month.
Currently completing his Level 4 Textile Technical Specialist Apprenticeship, Amaan’s career journey is a fantastic example of progression within the textile industry and the opportunities that can come from a willingness to learn and develop.
Building a Career in Textiles
Amaan began his career at Burberry on the cleaning team, but his ambitions didn’t stop there.
Through hard work and a desire to progress, he moved into a role as a weaver, developing practical skills and gaining valuable experience within textile manufacturing.
His progression has since continued, with Amaan now undertaking the Level 4 Textile Technical Specialist Apprenticeship with the Textile Centre of Excellence.
The programme is helping him build on his existing industry experience and develop the higher-level technical knowledge and skills that can support the next stage of his career.
Looking to the Future
Amaan already has his sights set on what comes next, and is keen to grow into a Team Leader position, building on the knowledge and experience he has gained so far, and using his skills to support others.
His journey demonstrates that careers within textiles don’t necessarily follow one predetermined route. With the right attitude, employer support and opportunities for continued development, individuals can progress and build rewarding long-term careers within the industry.
For employers, stories such as Amaan’s also demonstrate the value of recognising potential within an existing workforce and providing people with opportunities to develop.
