Textile manufacturing operatives work in the manufacturing sector, producing or providing services for textile materials like cotton, silk fabrics, woollen yarns, and cloth used in various products including clothing, home interiors, and more. Employers typically range from small to medium-sized enterprises operating within manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using specialist machinery to produce textile materials.
  • Engaging in processes such as blending, carding, coating, dyeing, printing, spinning, scouring, twisting, warping, weaving, and finishing.
  • Performing quality checks and preparing materials for subsequent stages.
  • Conducting basic machine maintenance and maintaining work area safety and cleanliness.
  • Collaborating with production teams and interacting with quality, engineering, and warehouse staff.
  • Adhering to health and safety protocols, including wearing PPE, and supporting sustainability by minimising waste and recycling.
