From 1 August 2026, changes to apprenticeship funding came into effect, removing the requirement for eligible employers to contribute towards the training costs of apprentices aged under 25.

The change is designed to make apprenticeships more accessible for businesses and create more opportunities for employers to bring new talent into their workforce, while developing the skills needed for the future.

What has changed?

Previously, some employers were required to make a contribution towards apprenticeship training costs. Under the new changes, eligible employers taking on apprentices under the age of 25 will no longer need to pay towards these training costs.
