Job Title:        Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Department: Maintenance
Reports to:    Engineering Lead
Hours:            39 hours, Mon to Fri
Wage:            £45’000 per annum

Purpose

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities.

Working in a hands-on environment, you will take ownership of electrical fault finding, repairs, and improvements—helping to maximise uptime, improve equipment reliability (MTBF), and reduce downtime (MTTR).

This role offers the opportunity to work on a varied range of machinery, applying both reactive and planned maintenance techniques while contributing to ongoing improvements across the site.

 

Key Responsibilities   

Electrical Maintenance & Fault Finding

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults across a wide range of plant equipment, down to component level
• Work on motors, drives, control panels, sensors, and associated systems
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, taking ownership through to resolution
• Identify recurring faults and contribute to long-term engineering solutions

Planned & Preventative Maintenance

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to minimise unplanned downtime
• Support the development and continuous improvement of maintenance schedules
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard, safely and efficiently

Continuous Improvement & Reliability:

• Support initiatives to improve machine reliability and overall equipment performance
• Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
• Identify opportunities for system upgrades, modifications, and efficiency improvements
• Play a key role in reducing downtime and improving production output

Operational Support

• Work closely with production teams to prioritise maintenance based on operational needs
• Plan and manage workload effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Support machine installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities
• Assist external engineers and contractors when required

Parts & Asset Management

• Identify and specify spare parts requirements
• Support the management of critical spares to ensure availability
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs

Health, Safety & Team Contribution:

• Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety regulations and safe systems of work
• Contribute to a positive safety culture, reporting hazards, near misses and incidents
• Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to deliver operational success

Knowledge, skills & competencies

Technical Expertise

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
• Apprentice-trained electrician (City & Guilds or equivalent)
• Strong electrical fault finding skills to component level
• Experience working on industrial plant equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Confident working with electrical installations, control systems and machinery

Maintenance & Engineering

• Proven experience in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
• Experience responding to breakdowns in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to balance reactive and planned maintenance activities

Health & Safety

• Strong understanding of safe working practices, risk assessments, and compliance
• Commitment to maintaining high safety standards

Core Skills

• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
