We’re now looking for an experienced Healder/Knotter to join Drawing-in team, someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in a hands-on environment, and shares our passion for excellence in textile manufacturing.

 

The Role

As Healder Knotter you will set up the warps into looms for weaving.

Working within a small healding team as part of a weaving shift on a weekly rotating basis 6am to 2pm (6pm to 1pm on Fridays) and 2pm to 10pm, (1pm to 8pm on Fridays.) you will operate the weaving preparation machinery ensuring production looms are always working to their fullest capacity.

 

  • Operation of the automatic drawing-in machine
  • Operation of the knotting machines
  • Operation of the re-beaming machine
  • Using all the machinery to its full potential
  • Completing any documentation for logging faults & repairs on all machines and passing to the Team Leader
  • Cleaning of reeds, healds, droppers and shafts
  • Maintaining safety aspects of all machinery
  • Assist in the execution of the daily and weekly preventative maintenance programme and ad hoc maintenance

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A passion for creating beautiful, sustainable fabrics!
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a drawing-in environment, production, with demonstrable outcomes to efficiency and quality, within a healthy and safe working environment
  • Hands-on skills and the ability to operate machinery and tools safely
  • An understanding of woven design
  • A commitment to SSOWs (safe systems of work) and the willingness to provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude
  • The willingness and ability to share your knowledge, skills and experience with others in an informal as well as structured way.
  • Willingness to learn and appreciate the wider picture not just that of your own area; take an interest in our customers and appreciate our values
  • (Textile-related qualifications are desirable, but experience and passion matter most.)

Hours & Pay

  • 39 hours per week, rotating weekly shifts:
  • Early: 6am – 2pm (6am – 1pm Fridays)
  • Late: 2pm – 10pm (1pm – 8pm Fridays)
  • £29,000 – £34,468 depending on skills and experience
