JOB VACANCY: Yarn Store Team Leader at Bower Roebuck & Co

 Location: Glendale Mills, New Mill, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire

Full-time, Permanent

39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

£33,989 – £35,612

We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Yarn Store Team Leader to oversee our yarn storage and goods-in operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with warehouse and stock management experience who enjoys leading a small team and playing a key role in supporting manufacturing operations.

The Role

As Yarn Store Team Leader, you will lead a small team responsible for the receipt, storage, quality checking, and internal distribution of yarn throughout the mill.

Working at the heart of our production process, you will ensure raw materials are accurately received, recorded, stored, and supplied to production departments, helping to maintain the high standards of quality and efficiency that define Bower Roebuck.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting a small team of three colleagues
  • Managing incoming deliveries of yarn and raw materials
  • Quality checking deliveries and ensuring accurate stock records are maintained
  • Using pallet trucks and lifting equipment to safely move stock around the site
  • Issuing yarn to weaving and warping departments as required
  • Managing the return, weighing and recording of unused yarn
  • Maintaining stock accuracy through effective use of company systems
  • Supporting safe working practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Managing first-line people responsibilities including holiday approvals, absence meetings and probation reviews
  • Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment 

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in warehouse management or a similar stock control environment
  • Experience of goods-inwards processes and inventory management
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team
  • Confidence using IT systems and stock management software
  • Experience operating pallet trucks or similar lifting aids
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A positive attitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • A commitment to safe working practices and continuous improvement
  • An interest in textiles and manufacturing processes would be advantageous

A Fork Lift Truck licence and textile-related qualifications would be beneficial, but are not essential.

Hours & Working Environment

  • Monday to Friday 39 hours per week
  • Day shift working
  • Active role involving regular movement around the mill
  • PPE provided and required, including safety footwear and hearing protection
  • Manual handling involved, with lifting aids available wherever possible
