Building Future Leaders: Sam’s Journey from Apprentice to Skills Bootcamp Learner

At the Textile Centre of Excellence, we are proud to see learners continue their professional development with us as they grow within their organisations. One such learner is Sam from AW Hainsworth, who has embraced every opportunity to learn and progress in his career.

Sam first completed the Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship with the Textile Centre, gaining valuable technical knowledge and hands-on experience. Recognising his potential, Sam’s line manager encouraged him to take the next step by enrolling on our Skills Bootcamp in Leadership & Management.

This course is designed to prepare learners for supervisory and team leader roles, equipping them with the skills to manage people, communicate effectively and drive positive change within their workplace. For Sam, it marks the beginning of his journey into leadership – and an exciting step toward his long-term career development plan at AW Hainsworth.

Sam shares:

“I’m keen to take on any learning opportunities that are provided by the company to help me progress with my career. There is lots of information on the course to take away but it’s great that the Textile Centre and Claire provide all the resources that I need.”

He added: “I’m enjoying learning in the group environment where we can share different opinions and experiences.”

Claire Eaton, our Skills Bootcamp tutor commented:

Sam has shown real enthusiasm for developing his leadership skills. He’s engaged in discussions, contributes thoughtful insights, and is clearly motivated to progress in his role. It’s great to see him building on his apprenticeship with this next stage of training.”

Sam’s story is a powerful reminder of how training opportunities can shape not only technical expertise, but also personal growth and career aspirations. By building confidence and leadership capability, learners like Sam are helping to strengthen the future workforce in our sector.

We look forward to following Sam’s journey and seeing him continue to thrive as he works toward a leadership role within AW Hainsworth.
