More than 100 guests came together at Camira for the Huddersfield Unlimited Innovation in Textiles Business Forum, held in partnership with the Textile Centre of Excellence on National Manufacturing Day last Thursday.
The event celebrated Huddersfield’s proud textile heritage while providing a valuable opportunity to look ahead at the innovation, skills and expertise shaping the future of the industry.
Camira pulled out all the stops to give guests an informative behind-the-scenes look at its manufacturing operations. Attendees were able to see traditional expertise and modern technology working side by side while learning more about the processes involved in transforming raw materials into world-class fabrics.
The visit offered a powerful reminder of the scale and sophistication of textile manufacturing taking place in Huddersfield today. Far from being an industry of the past, the sector continues to develop through investment in people, technology, innovation and more sustainable ways of working.
Guests also heard from senior representatives at Camira and Shahban Aziz, Managing Director of the Textile Centre of Excellence, who spoke about the strength of the regional textile industry and the importance of doing more to promote its achievements.
As an industry-owned, not-for-profit organisation, the Textile Centre of Excellence works closely with manufacturers to develop skills, support innovation and help businesses build the workforces they need for the future. Bringing industry together through events such as this is an important part of that work.
The evening also provided plenty of opportunities for businesses from across the region to connect, share ideas and learn more about the expertise that exists within Huddersfield’s textile manufacturing community.
The Textile Centre of Excellence would like to thank Camira for its exceptional hospitality and Huddersfield Unlimited for helping to bring the event together. Thank you also to the speakers, organisers and more than 100 guests who attended and made the evening such a success.
The event was a fitting way to mark National Manufacturing Day and a fantastic celebration of the skills, innovation and world-class textile manufacturing found right here in Huddersfield.
